NIBBED is the branch given over to the performing arts. Its colour is purple and its name is derived from the mass of my writings in this area. To display here more than a fraction of the written work I have penned on Theatre would be too hefty, so I am showing just a very few. Here is a little mixture of a couple of essays , performance details and performance texts, along with some images. In retrospect, I wish just a few of my many performances, the workshops I facilitated, the pieces I directed, or designed sets for, had been filmed or photographed. Sadly, this was not the case. Without such, my theatre and dance activities remain ephemeral, something belonging to only a certain space and time, traced only in the memories of those present and leaving no visible footprint. Yet, in another respect, the power of any performance cannot be really translated by word alone. To be present is to be part of a communal rite within a rarefied atmosphere. To be present is for to be ever changed and transformed. This is its purpose and power. The Performance Texts here, therefore, will require imaginative participation, in particular. I am hoping these pages will be found informative, inspirational and enjoyable.
