Although I do not draw or paint utilising PC programs, I do, periodically, make use of Photoshop for the enhancing of photographic images and also, on occasssion, to manipulate these into digital artworks, mostly for video (as seen on 'Dolls' main page) . This Gallery contains a few examples.
HERE COMES A CHOPPER TO CHOP OFF MY HEAD
&
HEAD ON THE BLOCK
Actually, I was nowhere near a guillotine, the original photographs were taken locally, in a beautiful cemetery here in Scarborough. The 'block' is actually a weather worn stone cross.
It was the hair that held my interest in the first one, and the glittering pieces in the stone with the second. Hence, the contrasts were played with a great deal.
DEEP IN THE FOREST
A series of photographs shot in the woods near my home one cool summer's day. The original colour images have been desaturated to a point where only a hint of colour remains. Lighting effects have been added to give the images a touch of the dramatic. Additional untouched photographs have been made available on Deviant Art as stock for other members to use in their own photo-manipulation and digital art projects.
OGHAM MOON
This set of photographs took some creating. I lay on the floor, whilst someone held a large mirror over me as I arranged thriteen natural , flowering wands in my spread hair. Each wand is from one of the sacred trees of the Ogham and relates to one of the thirteen moons of the ancient Celtic Tree calendar.
Much of my work on the Ogham was of a temporal nature, and no photographs remain. There was a mechanised clock made from a large slice of tree trunk with each of the wands prtruding outwards from its rim which turned every five seconds. A performance piece where I, whitely moon clad, danced the turning of the year and a large installation piece. The installation consisted of a thirteen panelled tee-pee like construction. Its frame was of ash poles and each panel was a large, thick paper charcoal imprint of leaves and branches from each tree backed by white hessian. The floor was a mass of dried leaves. Entering the space, with its aroma and diffused light, was a peaceful experience for all who did so.
MIRROR DANCER
One of many Buto photographs.
PAGAN SEASONAL & ELEMENTAL CARD DESIGNS
THE SEASONALS
Eight Seasonals, or Festivals, make up the pagan year which marks the turning of the Wheel. These are basd on the old agrigultural calendar and mark the sun's course. I have not completed the whole set of these as yet.
THE ELEMENTS
Ritual paganism, and other magickal systems, traditionally utilise, symbolically, the four elements - Earth, Air, Fire and Water, corresponding to the four directions. The fifth element - Spirit or 'Ether' is the centre. Ether is not shown here due to lack of space. I represented it as silver-grey.
HEAD GAMES
The first of a series of double-headed photographic manipulations.
CALLEACH
ICED
&
FROZEN
Manipulated photographs from those taken during a solo Buto performance, Feest Of Calleach, given at Reoboth, North Yorkshire. The original photographs have simply been air-brushed with white to illiminate the background setting and areas of the figure which was sharpened and given more contrast.
